I trained as an actor at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School from 2008-2011. My first professional job after graduation was as the lead role of Albert in the National Theatre’s internationally award-winning West End production of War Horse. It was the best year of my life so far — eight shows a week in the West End, getting paid to do what I had dreamed of doing, in a hit show, working with puppet horses.

Since then, I’ve worked across the country and in the West End. Some of my favourite roles include Lysander in the RSC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Erica Whyman; Beverly Goodaway in Ink by James Graham directed by Rupert Goold at the Almeida and in the West End; and Captain Greville in The Madness of George III directed by Adam Penford at Nottingham Playhouse and for National Theatre Live. For a full, ridiculous list of the theatres I’ve worked in, look at the bottom of this page…

In 2014, I added writing to the mix, getting a place on the Royal Court young writers group.

In 2017, I decided to try my hand at producing a short film — I had no idea how to do it, but I learned as I went, and it turned out well! BLOOD OUT OF A STONE premiered at BFI Flare, before playing at seven further film festivals. It was picked up for distribution by Peccadillo Pictures. I’ve since produced or co-produced three more shorts. But, as everyone who has produced shorts vows: ‘Never again.’

In 2018 and 2019, I tried my hand at theatre producing, working as Assistant Producer for The HandleBards, the world’s only troupe of cycling Shakespearean players.

In the lockdown of 2020, I produced a socially-distanced play, supported by Arts Council England, and I wrote a play which would turn out to be my debut as a writer. Cruise was a monologue I performed myself — first at the Duchess Theatre, then at the Apollo Theatre. It was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Play 2022.

Since then, I’ve been splitting my time between acting and writing. I have a slate of tv, film and theatre projects in various stages of development. I’m currently taking part in the Channel 4 Screenwriting Course 2024.

I live in South London, but I dream of living in the Highlands of Scotland with a pair of dogs who I will name Doug and Scotch.

My portraits are taken by the brilliant Harry Livingstone. Check him out.
